    MacBook Air Vs ThinkPad X300

Apple's MacBook Air introduced the world to the thinnest notebook to date. Released in January of 2008, it is known as "ultrathin, ultraportable, and ultra unlike anything else." With the recent announcement of the new ThinkPad X300 from Lenovo, analysts are predicting that the ThinkPad will give Apple a run for it's money. The following is a brief review of each.
    MacBook Air
http://www.computercoupons.com.au/blog/wp-content/uploads/2009/05/macbook-air.jpgThe new Apple MacBook Air comes in a bit thinner than the Lenovo ThinkPad X300, measuring only 0.16 inches at its thinnest point. Steve Jobs actually introduced the new laptop to a crowd of onlookers at the Macworld Conference in San Francisco, by pulling the ultra thin notebook out of an office envelope. With a price tag of just under $2000, this notebook is a bargain in a class of laptops that are usually a bit more pricey.
Because the MacBook Air is so thin, the battery must be built in. Early tests are reporting about two to three hour battery life between charges. Other drawbacks include no built in GPRS/Edge etc, no optical drive, one USB port, and no choice of pointing device. Though it was designed for an SSD flash drive, it can also be purchased with an iPod drive, and Apple is expected to upgrade the drive by the end of the year. Despite some of these early drawbacks regarding features, overall this is a beautiful looking and very durable laptop, which Apple should improve upon over the upcoming year.
    ThinkPad X300
http://www.slipperybrick.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/02/thinkpad-x300.jpgThough not as sexy as the MacBook Air, the ThinkPad is built with the business user in mind. While the MacBook air is a consumer machine, this laptop is built more to be a business tool. The ThinkPad has a replaceable battery, replaceable optical drive, and three USB ports, compared to only one on the MacBook Air. The ThinkPad keyboard includes both Touchpoint and Touchpad pointing devices, a very durable / industrial strength built frame, a full set of management tools, and a more advanced flash drive. The ThinkPad also complies with EPEAT Gold, meaning it is one of the most "green", eco-friendly laptops on the market.
    Which one is better?
Along with all of the executive minded features of the ThinkPad, comes an executive level price tag. The ThinkPad X300 will be initially made available for around $2,799. So if cost if your main bargaining point, then the sub $2000 MacBook Air is your best bet. Otherwise, your decision should be based on needs. The ThinkPad is designed for the top executive that is always on the run. ThnkPads have never really been known for being "sexy" products, but they have always been thin, while still being reliable. But if you are looking for something ultra thin and ultra cool, at a great price, and you don't need all of the high end business type features of the ThinkPad, then the MacBook Air may be your best bet.
Only time will tell which one comes out on top, but these are both great, innovative products that should spur the ultra thin laptop market for years to come.

How Android Will Change The Mobile World

http://scherle.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/03/500px-android-logosvg.pngIn 2007 we had great announcements on the mobile phone field. First with Apple releasing the Iphone, then OpenMoko with the Neo 1973 and finally Google with a new open source platform called Android. From all the facts stated above, Android is the one shaking the open source community and also all the communication market. First let me explain how all this Google's OS thing started. Back in July 2005, Google acquired Android Inc a small company located in Palo Alto which created applications for mobile phones. From that day, speculations about Google getting in the mobile arena started. However nothing was done about Android until late 2007 and the question is, why did it take so long for Google do something about it.
The BBC spread rumours that the giant Internet Search Company initially wanted to reinforce their online applications aiming mobiles like Google Maps and Google Calendar, and were trying hard to deliver that.
Now if you stop to think about it, this makes a lot of sense as most of these mobile applications released by Google will cover all the needs and with little detail- they are free.
Google My Location will be replacing the GPS, cutting those extra costs that people pay to have this service. Gmail is free and Outlook will be no longer necessary.
Despite that, Google set a $10 million challenge which developers from the whole world will help to create new applications for the OS.
These are not the only changes that Android is bringing to the table. Now consumers will also be affected by the new OS; as it can be fitted to any device, the research to buy a new handset might be harder than before, when we used to have specific handsets like BlackBerry, Palm and Iphone. Also Android is leading consumers to a Smartphone evolution, which for old users can be a dramatic change.
In addition Google is attempting to bid on the 700MHz auction that will be vacated by analog TV in 2009. The rumours are about Google getting cheap calls for mobiles or even free internet access.
So how is Android affecting the other telecom providers? Well major mobile voice and data carriers in the U.S. have pledged to open their networks to outside handsets and applications. Carriers including AT&T and Verizon are already opening their network for outside handsets, however it is uncertain if this will cost more for consumers- And I'm not even talking about the Voip communication. One application that will come with Android is Gtalk which allows the user to make calls using internet protocol (IP) in case of mobile phone the WiFi would be used to do such thing, which could cause free phone calls.
These changes are pretty good on one hand as we will have more options as consumers, however we could face lack of support coming from telecoms as it would be more expensive to train personnel in different applications and OS.
Nobody knows if Android is coming to be a good thing for mobile companies and consumers, or if it's just Google's Achilles' heel like Steve Job quoted. What we know so far is that it is creating a good expectation.

    The Dell Inspiron 1000

http://absoluteraleigh.com/blog/uploaded_images/dell-inspiron-1000-773072.jpgThe following article covers a topic that has recently moved to center stage--at least it seems that way. If you've been thinking you need to know more about it, here's your opportunity.
The Dell Inspiron 1000 Notebook is one of the most basic, yet readily capable machines to grace the computer market in quite some time. Though many now find the unit obsolete, the 1000 is still a fully-functional piece of equipment that easily handles many tasks at once. One of the greatest features on the 1000 is its ability to display images via its large display screen, which has great pixel resolution of 1024 X 768, and does not let down the user where other units might. The fifteen inch screen is more than large enough to display much needed information, pictures, or game screens, all of which are common functions that can be easily orchestrated by the Dell Inspiron 1000. The graphics processor also helps with the computer’s ability to handle more superficial tasks. The notebook uses the AGP SIS M650, which is an industry standard for many computing units, and works well with computers that have shared video memory, like the 1000.
One of the computer’s downsides is the sound quality that initially comes out of the 1000. The sound is not bad, but it certainly isn’t at the premium level that most notebooks tend to achieve these days. Another downside of the sound quality is the computer’s incessant “bump” sounds, a problem that occurs every so often, especially when listening to music. The sound does get better when the unit is hooked up to external speakers, so do not rely on the built-in stereo speakers, which do not do their job. External speakers sound much better, but the “bump” noises can still be heard through them, which can be utterly annoying. Another problem with the sound is hearing what sounds like a sound file peaking, when in actuality the speaker is producing a noise it cannot handle, and therefore produces a distorted sound that is not the fault of the sound file itself, but more the fault of the computer’s faulty speakers.
Overall, the computer seems to handle at a pretty impressive rate. The computer does seem to handle everyday tasks in a very simple manner, but that does not designate it to have an adequate system. Most computers do not truly go through processing and memory tests until their systems have been tried by thorough software and hardware installations, which can wreak havoc on an underperforming unit. Sadly, this computer can only handle a few of these installations, and usually cannot handle having one outside computer game installed into its system. Even with the individual game the system seems to falter. There are other programs on the computer, but they are purely operational beings, which should not affect the user’s recreational experience, and especially should not negatively impact the computer’s need to have many programs going at once, but they do. The Dell Ispiron 1000 Notebook is not meant for fun and games of any large magnitude. The notebook can fare very well with minimal software downloads, but does not seem to be keen on operating with large installations, which puts this computer at a very big disadvantage in today’s industry.
How can you put a limit on learning more? The next section may contain that one little bit of wisdom that changes everything.
Although the sound does lack, and the performance of many tasks by this notebook is nearly impossible, there are some functions that still operate properly, and can be advantageous to the owner of the 1000. The notebook comes with a fully-functional CD-ROM drive, which also plays DVDs, and has a CD-R burner, which is a necessity in today’s world, of modern downloads. DVD viewing is quite pleasurable, especially due to the notebook’s large screen, and though the sound does often fail during parts of the viewing experience, the visuals do tend to make up for the initial downfalls experienced by the user. The burning experience is an overall plus for the user, as there have been no major problems found with the burning hardware inherent to the computer, but the main obstacle is finding a program that adequately burns albums and files without causing major interference to the user. Compact disc listening is also quite pleasurable, but must be done through headphones if one wants the true quality experience of listening to music. The discs rarely skip, and the computer seems to handle the task quite easily, though it does get a bit warm after completing such a menial duty.
One of the biggest problems that users of the Dell Inspiron 1000 Notebook will notice is the lack of battery power, and the computer’s basic inability to fully charge when plugged in, which usually gives the user a maximum battery time of twenty minutes, which is plain dismal in today’s world of advanced technology. Energy is one of the big factors to consider when purchasing a laptop unit, and anyone concerned with that area of the 1000 should prepare for a rather large letdown. The computer is only half the problem, as the battery packs that are internally stored in the computers tend to give the consumer a large headache as well. Many of the units were recalled due to the battery’s apparent ability to combust, a negative quality which has caused many fires on an international level. The battery’s lack of real power, along with the combustibility factor, is one of the biggest reasons that many people will go with another unit when looking for a dependable laptop computer.
Finally, there is the connectivity of the Dell Inspiron 1000. For the most part, the computer does seem to function quite well on the internet, and has the ability to hookup to many of the high speed services available, without the need of even purchasing a network card, which can easily fit into the computer’s accessible port. The only problem can be the failure of the Ethernet port, which then institutes reparation of the problem, or a need to install a network card, both of which can be irritating and costly processes. The computer also has the ability to connect with USB ports, which is a very vital need in the present time, especially since the floppy disc is no longer viable, and the USB ports seem to be the most popular way of transporting information. The Dell Inspiron 1000 is a decent computing unit, and should not be thought of as the apex of the computing industry, but should be thought of as an affordable unit that has the ability to function properly if all of the necessary precautions are taken.
Now might be a good time to write down the main points covered above. The act of putting it down on paper will help you remember what's important about this dell laptop.
This article on this dell laptop has brought to you by your consumer electronics.

The Lenovo Thinkpad X60 Tablet – Who Says It's Not a Beauty

http://www.notebooks.com/wp-content/uploads/lenovox60.jpgIt was passion at best view. I was sitting at my customary board at my customary chocolate browse a pair of weeks backwards when my friend pulled away his original infant. It was slick, it was tiny, it was distinct and I just stared. “It” was the just-released Lenovo Thinkpad X60 Tablet PC that he had picked upward that afternoon. He noticed me staring, and being the tasty, sharing character of guy that he is instantly offered to let me offer his original infant a swirl. Love at best view may be an understatement.
The Lenovo Thinkpad X60 Tablet is the latest upgrade to Lenovo’s X series. Just 1. 1 inches dense, it’s about the size of a spiral bounce notebook, but does then often much. And I’m not the simply one to believe then. The X60 Tablet has garnered some amazing reviews since it debuted in November. PC Magazine awarded it 4. 5 of 5 stars and calls it “the eventual pill experience. Independent reviewers at GottaBeMobile. com tell it “sets the measure for redeemable pill PCs. And Laptop Magazine claims, “…it just may be the better redeemable still. ” All I know is that it has just about everything I’d seek in a redeemable pill PC, and so some. Here’s a peek at some of the most-wanted features that the Lenovo X60 Tablet offers.
    Small Footprint
At 10. 8” x 9. 6” x 1. 1-1. 3” (the extra. 2 inches comes into drama if you select the 8 cubicle battery instead of the 4 cubicle battery. It too adds a wee piece to the weight), the X60 Tablet is just about the size of a basic spiral notebook.
    Multiple Screen Options
You go a selection of three cover options - 12. 1" XGA, 12. 1" SXGA+, or MultiView/MultiTouch 12. 1" XGA screens, all with Super Wide Viewing Angle engineering and Anti-Reflective/Anti-Glare coatings. The Multi-View cover is a lovely matter. Even in complete sunshine, the cover is legible and crispy, unlike most new displays that I’ve used. Since I do my happiest writing sitting away in the backyard or poolside, the complete sunshine screening means that I wear’t get to deform myself into a pretzel in decree to have some darkness on the cover so I can view it. The MultiTouch cover gives you a selection of using the digitizer stylus or your finger for simple navigation.
Another leading plus – the Active Rotate senses the cover preference and automatically adjusts the exhibit to equip. That means no demand to manually shift between portrayal and landscape preference. Coordinating with that, the NavDial keys which go you up and down on the cover too automatically feel which instruction is upward then you wear’t get to adapt the manner you take them when you shift orientations.
    Connectivity Plus!
The Lenovo X60 Tablet can manage just about any sort of connectivity that exists. You have a selection of just Bluetooth, a/b/g WiFi, cellular WWAN, 802. 11n MiMo for wireless, as easily as a modem jack and a basic LAN jack. One manner or another, you WILL link. And the Lenovo care to less details shows here, overly – a button on the exterior of the lawsuit allows you to move wireless on or off still when the lawsuit is closed to maintain battery living.
    Real Feel Digitizer Pen
The digitizer pen feels _correct_ in your hand. It’s another one of those less details that makes then more disagreement. The digitizer has the size, configuration and weight of a genuine pen so that it just feels correct in your hand. You can take it as a cursor, or take it to cartoon and go notes. The acknowledgement software is top-notch. I’m an utter artwork oddball, so the best matter I did with Jeff’s Lenovo Thinkpad X60 Tablet was flip into an artwork plan and begin drawing. I won’t tell it was JUST like sketching with a pencil or charcoal, but nothing else still comes good. Laying downward the bones for a present took seconds and was nearly as simple as sketching it away on newspaper. Oh! And did I cite the cushioned finger grasp and eraser? Yes, the digitizer pen has an eraser on the opposite conclusion of the hint where it belongs and it truly works. And following that ‘less details’ thinking, Lenovo has a warehousing bay for your digitizer and offers optional tethers to hold your pen connected and forbid losing it.
    Long Long Battery Life
The Lenovo Thinkpad Tablet offers you a selection of batteries. Go with the 8 cubicle, which will offer you 8+ hours of battery procedure. Even the 4 cubicle battery out-performs most others though. And you have a choice of ability savers that will assist maintain battery accusation for the significant tasks.
    Duo Processor
The large design in the X60 Thinkpad Tablet is the Intel Low Voltage Core Duo mainframe. This is what everyone has been waiting for, and they eventually did it. The Core Duo mainframe supports upward to 4 GB RAM and a 120 GB HDD, runs tight and chill, and gives you the ability of a desktop in a pill.
The Cons The unmarried biggest con is that the X60 Tablet doesn’t include a built in optical effort. Lenovo decided to get with the high living battery mob instead, then if you need CD/DVD capacity, you’ll get to put in a distinct effort or in the ThinkPad X6 Tablet UltraBase, which is tiny enough to transport anywhere, and gives you an entire reality of enlargement options
    • Ultrabay Slim with accessible optical effort.
    • 4 USB 2. 0 Ports; parallel and sequential ports.
    • VGA output.
    • Microphone input & earphone production.
    • Stereo speakers.
    • Ethernet and modem pass-through.
    • Cable lock slot and important lock.
    The Wrap-up
The Lenovo Thinkpad X60 Tablet is the redeemable pill PC that everyone has been waiting for. It’s not ideal – it could be a little more chic and racy, and it would be nice to get an optical effort built in – but it does include just about everything you’d need in a portable ultra-solution for just about everything you do.
You can find specs on the Lenovo Thinkpad at your consumer electronics.

    Overall
The Mac Book Pro was a great machine. I've been using it for a while now and I absolutely love it. I doubt I'll be going back to a Windows based machine anytime soon!

Laptop Review - HP Compaq nx9420

http://shoponline.com.sg/images/HP_Compaq_NX9420_Notebook.jpgThe HP Compaq nx9420 is designed for professionals or large businesses that need to have a large display, air tight security, and be mobile around the office. This desktop replacement can handle virtually any task, with dual core processor, 256MB dedicated video memory, 1GB of RAM and weighing in at 7.4 pounds, is not too heavy to be taken home occasionally.
The 17 inch BrightView widescreen in fantastic. Watching movies or working through spreadsheets won’t be a problem. This laptop computer is one of the few on the market that has a separate number pad, and the keyboard and touchpad worked well. There is a scratch resistant coating around the keyboard to give it extra protection. Along the top of the keyboard are external controls for Wi-Fi, audio, video and HP’s Info Center System, which allows you to adjust security settings, manage wireless devices and search a support database.
The 8 cell battery that comes as standard lasted four hours and five minutes with the Wi-Fi turned on. This length of time is considerably more than other comparable laptops. There is an option for a twelve cell battery which supposedly will last for eight hours.
This notebook comes configured with 2.0GHz Intel Core Duo Processor T2500, 1GB DDR2 RAM, ATI Mobility Radeon X1600 graphics, 80GB hard drive at 7200 rpm and a DVD burner. With the Core Duo Processor, multitasking did not slow the system down at all. With the ATI graphics on board, this system is equipped to handle 3D games without any problems. The games played smoothly and looked great on the widescreen. The speakers at the front of the unit also performed well, even when the volume was turned up loud.
As far as security goes these features come standard: fingerprint reader, Smart Card reader and Kensington Lock Slot. HP’s ProtectTools is the companies Trusted Platform Module, which is a security chip on the motherboard. ProtectTools also has file and folder encryption. There is also the new accelerometer technology which senses the systems movements and parks the hard drive if it senses the computer is falling or is bumped.
The HP Compaq nx9420 has all the ports and connections that a business user should need. There is VGA, S-Video-out, Firewire, four USB 2.0 ports as well as headphones and microphone jacks. There is a PC Card slot, and network connections including Gigabit Ethernet, 56 Kbps V92 Modem, integrated 802.11 a/b/g and Bluetooth.
At $1,999 the HP Compaq nx9420 is not cheap, but if you are in the market for a business notebook computer with portability and power, it’s hard to go past this one.

9500 Acer Aspire Notebook Does Both

    http://www.notebookcheck.net/uploads/tx_nbc2/Aspire1800_normal_03.jpeg
Sometimes looking through the market place for notebook computers it can be hard to decide where to start. An overwhelming number of models, manufacturers and optional components and accessories can freeze your brain. I've found short reviews helpful to get some focus and define a starting point.
The Acer Aspire notebook series and particularly the 9500 have impressive features and options that offer a great deal of flexibility at a rational price. The Aspire 9500 Acer notebook will serve as both an excellent tool for business and as a high quality entertainment center. Top drawer ATI graphics, a large 17 inch screen and a fully functional TV-tuner combine with an Intel Centrino Express chipset and comprehensive multimedia software so that this Acer Aspire notebook offers you some of the finest multimedia entertainment available on any affordable notebook..
Using Intel Centrino or Intel Pentium M (760) mobile technology, the Aspire can provide better battery duration, wireless connectivity and excellent performance. The PCI Express architecture, working with DDR2 533MHz or 400MHz memory, provides rapid multi-tasking operations and allows significantly faster access to data residing on external devices. This model of the Acer Aspire notebook also features 100GB of hard drive storage (larger drives are also available) and up to 2GB memory. You get serious storage capacity and remarkable performance.
And if you like TV? You can turn your Acer Aspire into a fully functional TV via an integrated digital or analog TV tuner coupled to a DVB-T digital antenna. And you can get a full function remote control. Just make sure the boss doesn't catch you watching TV when you're supposed to be working.
The TFT LCD screen is a superb 17 inch WXGA CrystalBrite and delivers amazing picture quality and spectacular image clarity from the ATI Radeon X700 graphics. The audio quality is excellent, backed up by S/PDIF and MS Sound components which include a subwoofer as well as two integrated 2.1-channel stereo speakers and stereo microphones. Add in the Acer Arcade or Windows Media Center editions and you have the capability to not only watch movies and listen to great music but you can also do some serious image editing. To top it off, you can choose either a DVD/CD-RW optical drive, a dual-layer DVD writer or the integrated variable-speed DVD-Super Multi double-layer drive which does just about everything. A 5-in-1 card reader is also included
Wireless connectivity on the Acer Aspire notebook is via Intel PRO/Wireless 2200BG - a Wi-Fi certified network solution - which supports the Acer Signal-Up technology. Conventional Ethernet connectivity is normally 100Mbps but the Acer has Gigabit Ethernet with the capability of delivering data at 1000Mbps - 10 times faster. Other available options for wireless connectivity are Integrated Blue-tooth and the Fast Infrared technology.
The Acer Aspire notebook has the ability to meet your needs for both work and fun in a single high quality, high performance package.

    Introduction to Tablet PCs

The Tablet PC is a notebook or slate-shaped mobile computer that is approximately the size of a paper tablet. It gives us portability, flexibility and usability that are changing the way we work with our computers. Its touch screen or digitizing tablet technology allows the user to operate the computer with a stylus or digital pen instead of a keyboard or mouse.
Tablet PCs will have two formats: the "convertible" model with an integrated keyboard and a display that rotates 180 degrees and can be folded down over the keyboard, and the "slate" model with only a screen and pen. They can use external wireless or USB keyboards. The most popular convertible tablet PCs are the Acer and Toshiba. The most popular slates are the Motion Computing/Gateway Computers, Fujitsu, and HP/Compaq.
Many Tablet PCs use a Wacom digitizer, which delivers pen-position input to the computer at a fast rate. Tablets with these digitizers project a small magnetic field above the screen that interacts with electronics in the tablet's stylus. The user therefore is able to rest their hand on the screen without affecting the image or mouse pointer; only movement of the stylus affects the mouse pointer.
Tablet PCs became available to the general public with the introduction of Microsoft's Windows Tablet PC Edition in the fall of 2002. Before then they were used in small markets in industry, medicine, and government. Now they are used by students and many professionals.
Let us now have a look at the improvements in Tablet PCs:
•The battery life of Tablet PCs has increased a great deal. This gives us more freedom to do what we need to do when we need to do it. We're free to take our computers into meetings and classrooms and to take notes the way that's most familiar, by writing. Centrino technology has improved. This means that more powerful processors can be used with little or no loss of battery life compared to lower powered CPUs.
•Better wireless support allows us to log on to networks more easily than ever, with built in firewire. All this convenience comes packaged in a 3 pound computer that's not much bigger than a paper tablet.
•Those who don't type have the option to use handwriting, can use keyboard to enter data. Others may prefer speech input, or a combination of both. We're free to take our computers into meetings and classrooms and to take notes the way that's most familiar, by writing.
•Tablet PCs are lighter than the majority of notebooks. Most weigh about 3 pounds or less. Size is also smaller, with the Tablet PC about the size of a paper tablet. Some of the newer Tablets have larger screen sizes or built-in drives. These can increase the weight considerably.
•The Tablet PC uses a low or ultra-low voltage CPU chip that's actually considerably faster than its "number" indicates. This also improves battery life. With the introduction of the Intel Centrino and Dothan, the Intel-based Tablet PCs will be comparable with faster desktops. As an example, according to Intel, a Centrino 1.6Ghz processor is comparable to 2.4Ghx Pentium4-M.
•Some Tablet PC models are including a CDRW-DVD drive within the unit. Some have USB or firewire models available. There are also third party drives available.
•The Tablet PC can use the pen technology in PowerPoint presentations, etc. These annotations can be saved for future presentations or erased completely. Using a Tablet PC with a projector allows the presenter to annotate slides, etc as he speaks.
•The Tablet PC can be used in both portrait and landscape modes. A touch of the button changes it instantly. There's no need to reboot.
•Tablet PCs generally use a 1024x768 screen resolution. High-resolution displays and Microsoft's Clear Type display technology make the Tablet PC an excellent reading platform. Video is also improving with one model offering a resolution of 1400x1050.
•Some Tablet PCs offer fingerprint scanners for increased security. There are also 3rd party devices such as USB pen drives that contain a security lock. Without the pen drive, the information on the Tablet PC is irretrievable.
Tablet PCs are changing the way we use computers. They'll continue to do so and in more ways than we're currently envisioning. As this year progresses, expect to see more innovations in features and size and even more availability and features galore, including dual core processors and better graphics.

Netbook Reviews - Asus Eee 1005HA Vs Samsung NC10 Netbook

Specifications: To put it simply, the Asus 1005HA netbook is a much better machine than the Samsung NC10 netbook. In fact, the Asus model currently has some of the best specs that any netbook can have. It has an Intel Atom N280 (1.66Ghz processor), wi-fi (802.11b/g/n) and Bluetooth 2.1 connectivity. The Samsung model has a Intel Atom N270 processor, 802.11b/g wi-fi and Bluetooth 2.0 connectivity.
Features & Performance:Whether it is in terms of multi-tasking speed, battery lifespan or features, the Asus 1005HA netbook is once again the winner. This new Asus netbook currently have the best battery lifespan in the market, lasting up to 10.5 hours on a single charge. The Samsung also has a decent battery lifespan, with up to 8 hours of use. The Asus netbook also has a touch pad that support multi-touch gestures.
Price and Design:This is the category that sets these both netbooks apart. Currently, the Asus sells for around $360 each while the Samsung sells for around $330. Although the NC10 is the cheaper model, the Asus 1005HA gives you much better value. The Asus model is worth much more than the $30 price difference.
On the other hand, the Samsung NC10's biggest selling point can be found in its design. The best selling model is the blue-colored one. The blue model has a glossy external casing with a matte surface on the flip side and a black keyboard. I highly suspect that the NC10 is staying afloat on the bestseller's list on the sole factor of design.

    ASUS Eee PC 1005HA Review

    http://netbookmag.files.wordpress.com/2009/05/asus-eee-pc-1005ha.jpg
The ASUS Eee PC 1005HA is one of the most feature laden netbooks on the market. If you're interested in buying a netbook, or a mini laptop as they're sometimes called, then the ASUS Eee PC 1005HA is definitely a product you need to consider. Buyers often have a few questions about netbooks, however. The size of the keyboard and screen, and how powerful the computer is are often cited as reasons not to buy netbooks. With the PC 1005HA, however, these issues will not be problems. Let's look at all of this in more detail.
ASUS Eee PC 1005HA: Size of Keyboard
Consumers are often confused with every new technology that gets introduced to the marketplace, and netbooks are no exception. One issue that people wonder about is the size of the keyboard. After all, netbooks are mini-laptops. So, the keyboard must be too small to use, right?
Well, honestly, with some netbooks, that's actually true, but unless you have huge fingers, you probably won't have any problem at all typing on the 1005HA. This netbook's keyboard is 92% the size of a "normal" laptop keyboard.
ASUS Eee PC 1005HA: Size of Screen
As far as screen size, the ASUS Eee has a screen that's slightly bigger than 10". This might sound small, but in reality the screen in perfectly viewable. Size is not the only criterion that affects screen "viewability". The detail of the screen, the quality of the screen, and how the screen is actually lit make all the difference. When you actually look at the screen of a 1005HA, you'll see that it's completely viewable in all light conditions.
    ASUS Eee PC 1005HA: Power
Power is certainly an issue, especially with today's computing needs. We use laptops not only for looking at YouTube videos (which require a lot of computing power), but for things like teleconferences, which require even more computing power. The ASUS is quite capable of handling all of the above and more. You can play high-end games on the ASUS, as well as use its built in webcam and digital microphones for all your communications needs.
The ASUS comes with Windows XP, which is very capable of running all software you need to. It's got a microprocessor big enough and fast enough to handle all of the computing you would normally do on any laptop. All in all, the only thing "mini" about the ASUS Eee PC 1005HA is its size.

Netbook Alternatives - Acer Aspire AS1410-8414 11.6-Inch Laptop Review

http://laptops.techfresh.net/wp-content/uploads/2009/08/Acer-Aspire-1410_01.jpgSpecifications: If you are looking for an ultra-portable laptop but don't enjoy putting up with the cramped keyboard and tiny screen of a netbook, consider getting the Acer Aspire AS1410-8414 11.6-inch laptop. This laptop comes with an Intel Core2 Solo processor (1.4Ghz) 2GB or RAM and a 250 hard drive. This model doesn't have Bluetooth but it does come with a HDMI port, which is quite rare for a laptop of this price. Its 11.6 screen has a 1366 x 768 resolution so you can watch HD (at 720p) movies on it.
Design: The Acer Aspire AS1410-8414 11.6-inch laptop sports the very stylish design of the Acer Aspire One netbook. It comes in a variety of colors, but the Sapphire Blue model looks exceptionally stylish. It measures at 11.2 x 8 x 1.2 inches and weighs in at just 3.1 pounds. It has a glossy external casing and they keyboard is very nicely laid out. Its track pad even has multi- touch gestures, similar to those found on Apple laptops.
Features & Performance:The 1.4Ghz processor is surprisingly powerful. After some research I discovered that the Intel Core 2 ULV SU3500 is much more powerful than the Atom processor found on netbooks. We had no problems multi-tasking and running moderately 'heavy' applications. Thanks to the 2GB RAM the Windows Vista OS on this machine runs very well. The battery lifespan was also very impressive, lasting up to 6 hours on a single charge. At the time of writing, the Acer Aspire AS1410-8414 11.6-inch laptop retails for around just $427 each.
